How to diagnose ignition coil on leaf blower
Просмотров 38 тыс.2 года назад
This video is in response to a viewer, but I also thought you would like it too. The principle is the same as the push mower I did previously. I show how to determine if the problem is with the kill circuit or the ignition coil as well as how to test the kill switch.
How to fix the ignition system on your John Deere AMT 600 (CDI upgrade)
Просмотров 7 тыс.2 года назад
I wanted to show that it's possible to upgrade the ignition system on your old AMT 600 John Deere gator. This wasn't my idea. I got the idea from @Royce Ardery. Many thanks Royce!! It cost me $17 off Ebay, and was simple to wire up. Just another way we can keep some of these old units running! Here is the link to CDI kit I bought: www.ebay.com/itm/DC-4-Pin-CDI-Box-Ignition-Coil-Quad-ATV-Dirt-Pi...
How to change the reverse module key switch Cub Cadett XT1
Просмотров 31 тыс.2 года назад
I wanted to show how to remove the console on the XT1 enough to get the key switch out. I personally don't use this method, but others may need to know it for cleaning or others repairs. The ignition switch I would try in place of this XT1 switch would be Oregon part number 33105. I can't verify for sure it would work but there's a good chance it will. I would use the multimeter to verify the s...
How to replace a wheel bearing on a Yamaha ATV four wheeler
Просмотров 6 тыс.3 года назад
Today Metal in Motion Shop shows how he replaces the front wheel hub bearings and seals specifically in a 2003 Yamaha Kodiak 450. These bearings where rusted and seized so bad you couldn’t hardly push the machine. This is my method and it's not the only way to do it. I admit that most people don't have a welder, but this was my only option for finishing the job at that time. Again it's another ...
Polaris RZR 170 UTV complete hose routing
Просмотров 6 тыс.3 года назад
I ran into a problem with the hose routing on this 2009 Polaris 170. Not being able to find any good info except from RUclipsr Keegan Royster, I decided to add a hose routing walk through. My problem was a previous owner attached the float bowl vent hose to the crankcase breather system and it wouldn't allow the float bowl to breath. This engine would idle but would not accelerate due to fuel s...
How to diagnose and replace ignition coil with no spark on your mower.
Просмотров 325 тыс.3 года назад
Metal in Motion - I wanted to show you guys how I diagnose an engine that has no spark to the spark plug. You need to determine if the problem is on the kill circuit which grounds the coil and turns the engine off, or is it the coil itself. Although this is on a push mower, the same method applies to riding mowers, pressure washers, go karts, generators, weedeaters, blowers, etc. They all use t...

    First before anything WASH ME. The big trick is trying to watch for spark or even the light while cranking the handle. I guess you could buy a $400 dollar camera. Or have your lazy wife get off the couch and tear herself away from Teen Mom 2 or 90 Day Fiance The Reunion, or whatever garbage she's watching and watch for spark. Don't get ME started.

    I replaced a switch that had the headlight switch with one that had the reverse override position and it blew the main fuse on the mower. Does that even make sense? After two fuses I put the other switch back on it and it doesn't blow the fuse. I tested the switch that blew the fuses and in the on position it only connects B to A1. In my mind it would have to be connecting B to something else like M or G in order for that to happen. The switch with the headlight position works and doesn't blow the fuse. Am I missing something here?

    My 6.75 Briggs starts perfectly first time every time and runs fine. But when hot, it will not start. Could this be the coil? Maybe gap too small or too big?

    A closer examination of the "kill switch" and how it grounds when you release the handle would help. Regardless I'm going to get to the bottom of this mess! Otherwise okay show.🎉

    From comments I've learned that it does work, but I've always taken the inner seals off them. These days, nobody can afford to fill that cavity with grease. I think I'm going to take something like foam pipe insulators and fit them in around the spacer. I wonder if it will react with the grease and polute it? I guess I'll find out because my mower would take over a tube of grease for no reason other than to fill the space

    • @metalinmotionshop
      @metalinmotionshop Месяц назад

      I’m going to do an experiment with a couple of these spindles. My concern is blowing out the bottom seals because how else would you know it’s full of grease unless it pushes out the top or bottom. Drilling a tiny hole in the side as a indicator for full was something I wanted to do. I feel these rubber seals pop out easy when being pushed from the inside out. Maybe it’s not a problem, but I’m going to test it.

      @theamaturepro Месяц назад

      @@metalinmotionshop yes, I totally agree with you. Better to take the seal off and service them every spring. Considering most people never do, once a year would probably make a difference for most

    A solenoid completes the connection between the battery and the starter. Temporary magnetization occurs when 12V current is introduced via operation of the ignition switch (specifically, moving it into the Start position.) This magnetization serves to move a plunger upwards, on which a small rectangular plate sits. The plate, when fully raised, completes the circuit between the battery and the starter, allowing the engine to crank. Releasing the key from the spring-loaded Start position severs the 12 volts and thus the magnetization, which in turns allows the plunger to retract. By extension, this prevents the starter from continuing to spin after the engine is running.

    Your way Wrong about this. Stop misleading folks and connect a gun and pump it till it’s full and you could actually be helping people. This video is a perfect example of what I warn people against. Run some experiments. Grease one until grease come through the assembly. Grease goes right past that inner shield and through the bearings. They work exactly as they should.

    Have you ever heard of.,or tried Echo Red armor 2 stroke motor oil it does exactly what you we're describing about not clogging up the exhaust Ports and muffler's that's designed to remove it. And the recommended hours of usage run time to use it is 50 to 60 hours. Before it's cleaned out. It even cleans out spark arrestors.
